Re: Getting ready for the 2021 Perseids
Yes Pedro, I guess it's that time of year again and at the moment here in the S.E.England the sky is clear, so might well do some more Oculusing tonight, but hopefully more successful than last year.
Cheers

Re: Getting ready for the 2021 Perseids
Thanks Terry & Alexandra
I had clear skies yesterday but a low transparency. Fingers crossed for today... (good weather forecast)

Re: Getting ready for the 2021 Perseids
I set-up and recorded for around 3-hours last night 11/12th before the clouds completely rolled over around midnight/Z, nothing seen except loads of aircraft, contrails, satellites and clouds.
Yes the contrails are back and no doubt will get worse to spoil our blue or dark-skies...
Thanks Pedro

Re: Getting ready for the 2021 Perseids
I agree with you Rainer, but I have captured a few overnight this 12/13th and as I write this, the Oculus camera is still running.
I guess since around 2100z until about 0400z I wrill have captured around 20-Gbytes of data to review and at least watching the AVI's doesn't take too- long. Will then have to extract the relevant snap-shots from those files.
Perfectly clear skies here - all night too.
Pedro - will look at your captures when I wake-up sometime on Friday...
Cheers
Terry

Re: Getting ready for the 2021 Perseids
I set the alarm for 2.45am this morning as the forecast was for clear skies. Of course it was cloudy apart from a beautiful blue sky to the North, I bet Stuart had a good view. I saw 2 but only in the blue hole in the north. I gave up after half an hour as it was a bit pointless

Re: Getting ready for the 2021 Perseids
Many thanks Pedro for your excellent OCULUS-ing.
I haven't had a chance to review my 6-hours/17-Gbyte of files, but caught quite a few Perseids plus numerous over-flight aircraft, satellites and insects too all in perfect seeing until the last few minutes before dawn.
Cheers
Terry

Re: Getting ready for the 2021 Perseids
Thank you Pedro for that video. I also have a made-to-measure cover on mine, when left outside during day-lights, as don't like the idea of having Sun-light through an uncovered lens and camera, as well as keeping the crawlies and flying-whatever's from using it as a landing platform.
You've certainly also captured the aircraft too and your Oculus and it's case etc., is exactly as mine came in January'20.
Yours also show clearly the Milky Way and I've yet to get that view as good of yours. Perhaps tonight if the sky-view allows, I will need to adjust the settings to get similar to your video shows...
I can of course use either the spare Altair GPCAMM's with their ultra wide-angles lenses, but the 3 ZWO cams will remain on the Tri-Scope Assembly.
Your second A-S-C looks interesting. In your opinion which is the best of the two ?
I've still to look through all the Perseid files..
Cheers
Terry

Unfortunately for me I was further south and a little west, in Wales….and asleep ….
