Geomagnetic Unrest 10th September 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

Beautiful aurorae have been reported in Finland during the evening of September 10th. The cause.....geomagnetic unrest, probably resulting from the uptick in solar activity and flaring.

Here are my magnetometer data, captured on my home built instrument buried in my garden here in the north-west of England. The increased activity during the evening hours leading up to midnight universal time is clear to see.

There might be an incoming CME which could arrive tomorrow, so more aurorae are possible if you're in a position to see them.

Thanks for looking.

Stu.

That's great Stuart :hamster: let's hope for some dark clear nights this winter and plenty of activity :)

Many thanks, Alexandra. It certainly would be nice to see Aurora from our homes sometime.

:)
