120/1000 Lunt LS50 mod

Post by AtiCelestron »

Good morning everyone. I am Attila Dézsi from Hungary. I only registered for the forum yesterday, but I have been reading it for months. I would like to introduce the conversion of the telescope and say thank you at the same time. Because I got a lot of ideas and help from this group. The telescope is a blue tube SkyWatcher 120/1000. Internal 90mm Baader D-ERF. I made a 2 "adapter for the Lunt etalon so it can be inserted into any 2" focuser. I later cut the tube shorter so I have focus with a binocular viewer and 20mm eyepieces. This is how I use it most often. Photographically, I use an ASI290mm camera. I am very pleased with the result. Whenever I have free time, I use it. So thank you again

Thank You GUS.
My main instrument is an old C8 that I use for Moon observation and with Baader solar foil to observe Sunspots. The mount is a HEQ5 pro goto. I tilted the internal ERF 2 degrees, one of the pictures shows the reflected light on the front lens. I designed a heating module for the block filter, the power of which can be controlled from an energy distribution box. I will be testing the heating module now in the winter. There are also plans to make a scintillation monitor.

I was afraid of work. I have no knowledge of optical things. especially not with h-alpha. but I am very pleased with the end result. I just don't like the "sweet-spot". when viewed with binoculars, I see the full disk, but the size of the sweet spot is smaller than the full disk. so I have to move the image of the Sun in the field of view to see the eruptions on the edge. photographically I use an ASI290MM. it is out of frequency in 1/4 of its field of view. probably the wide sensor sticks out of the sweetspot

I'm assuming you mean the whole etalon assembly. Objective side: M68x1, focuser side: M35x0.5.

Great mod Attila! That worked out quite well. Nice that it didn't require any major reconstruction too!

Very best,
