My first attempt on a solar pinhole camera. I need to place the next on a base that is less likely to move. Also need to angle it up to hit summer solstice. The light leak on the left is the house and the right is the road. We had a long run of cloudy weather this summer/fall.

Re: Solar can image (may-Dec)
This is sooo cool! I have thought about doing one of these but I have so many trees that obscure the view except during the winter months. But I could set the can up at my dad's for he has a bit less obstructions than I do at my home.

Re: Solar can image (may-Dec)
I love these ‘can camera’ records. They contain so much information that is unique to any particular location. I just wish I had a full unobstructed view for one of these.

Re: Solar can image (may-Dec)
I love these Solarcan images, it is such fun to do also gives the neighbours something to mutter about too Why are you strapping drinks cans to your chimney
To get the summer tracks you don't need to angle the pin hole camera upwards. If you notice, half of your image is landscape not sky. Therefore, you need to raise the pin hole upwards by at least half again up the can. It is a camera obscura so the image coming in through the pin hole is inverted, therefore if you raise the hole you will get less landscape and more sky. It is not the angle of the can but the height and position of the pinhole. I tried this and it works, however, I still needed to go higher still. Maybe, I need to get another can and try for a third year
