Cromo vs combo

Post by fedele »

Hi
Salutations,

as written in a previous post, I got a ful disk, both in visual and in imaging, with a TS 60/360 and a chromosphere quark with valid results.
the visual images are excellent. With the 178 I have good results and with the 174 it will go better. The setup is described elsewhere.

I ask you two things.

1) I currently use a 25mm Ploss TV. I would like a wider field with a longer focal length. I have 30mm ortho Takahashi. excellent result on the disc but I would like a wider field. I'm thinking of a couple of 40mm eyepieces (turret) which ones do you recommend?
2) Has anyone of you ever used the COMBO with short focal length refractors and Powermate? with what results with respect to a chromosphere? a combo was created for the catadioptric or refractor f15 and up.
if someone has already tested it successfully. I would like a combo because of the greater compactness and greater free opening.
I also ask if it is true that the quality of the combos degrades from the center to the outside of the pitch

thank you

Hi,
I had a look on astronomy.tools and found this result. Not sure if you mean you are making a solar mosaic from a few panels.

Hi there,

I would try a 32mm plossl in addition to the 25mm. These are the 2 favourite eyepeices I use with my Quark, also on a 60/360 scope. The 40mm plossl will give pretty much the same true field of view as the 32mm

Hi Fedele,

I see, the 25mm extension is the key to your getting a full disc. I have a 420mm Focal length 70mm refractor (F6). I will try and find if I can get a 25 mm or more spacer disc.

What is the name of those spacer discs? I find it quite confusing.

I don’t think the Tecnosky 0.5x reducer is special compared to other 0.5x reducers.

Magnus.

Hi.
Considering the TS estension of 80 mm on the OTA focuser. And with a 50 mm reducer of OTA for a value oaround f30 for quark.

Camera ASI178 MM + ZWO Tilt + Nose Camera 31,8 + 0,5 x you have this:

As you can see for little not full disk (here just a pic with sun among clouds...just to test)

this with 178. With 174 all we be ok. And here you have yet a good disk and a good resolution

Inserting the 25 mm you get the full disk

But is quit too much i have ordered 3 other estensions of 5/ 7/8 mm no less of 5, to achive a little great full disk, without going with prominences in a little vignetting zone around the field.
Vignetting is more with long EP and with more estension. You you have to tray many setups until you find the right compromise for your applicasion

i have the best risolution with this setup:
