Post by Valery »

My dear friends,

I have no words to express my gratitude when I've read your posts fulfilled by your warm words and care about me.

The war came on my country. A whole country in the fire, in the fight against invaders.

Thanks God I am and my family are safe for now.

Thanks a lot for your kind words and best wishes. I will try to stay safe and to keep my family safe.

To all who are in the wating list for our ARIES DERF. All your filters are ready, stoked in the cabinet in my house.
They all were ready before Christmas.

I hope for quick war end and life normalization here. Then I will be able to take the funds and ship the filters.

I too wish the best to all you.

Regards,

Valery

Dear Valery;

I’m sickened and heartbroken at what you and your country are suffering. My wife is of Ukrainian descent and has taught me many things about Ukrainian culture and history. Through her I have met many people in the local Ukrainian community and one thing that impresses me is the pride and love they all have for Ukraine, some of them even being 3rd or 4th generation Canadian. She visited with her Ukrainian dance ensemble in 2013 (before Crimea) and remembers it as one of the happiest times in her life, even getting the chance to visit distant relatives.

It’s hard to believe that this kind of ugliness and brutality is still unleashed on our world in the 21st century. I wish you the best of luck and hope you and your family remain safe and emerge unharmed from this catastrophe.

All the best.
Peter

I just received this from Valery:

"Hi Bob,

Me and my family are safe for NOW.
What will happen later - only God knows.

My city Kherson (the south of Ukraine) is under fire. Fights continue two days and nights straigh.
Today is 3-rd days. May be will be the hardest.

We need more weapons and ammo. Ammo, ammo, ammo!

Tell this to all our friends here and there.

Valery"

Please contact your government representatives with this message and urge more support of Ukraine where it matters. Prayers are nice, but won't stop a tank.

Dear all,

Thanks a lot for all your kind words and care about us, ukranians and for the massive help coming from your countries.

Me and my family still alive for now (by a miracle). Our city area was under fire by russian short range missiles "Grad".
This is near the strategic bridge over river Dniper. Three days of heroic resistance nights and days. But too many, too many russians troops move on us. No my city Kherson has blocked (in the circle). What will be later I don't know. Hope for a good.

Best regards,

still alive, Valery

Valery, you are constantly in my thoughts.

If you have a chance and are able to link to it, here is a video of tonight’s NHL hockey game in Winnipeg. Hoosli, a local Ukrainian male chorus, performed the national anthems of Ukraine and Canada to open the game. (Members of Hoosli sang at my wedding!).

https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/2008377923761

There are over 180,000 Ukrainians in Manitoba and their hearts are with you.

Stay safe.

Just seen on the BBC that Kherson has fallen to the Russians. OMG.

I don’t know what to say, my friend. Thinking of you and your family and hope you are all safe and well.

Hello Valery,

I am very pleased to hear that you and your family are safe. I thought war in Europe was consigned to the history books. Apparently not if there is a Madman in charge with his finger on the button.

We feel so helpless and frustrated here in the West. If there is ANYTHING we can do, just ask. I have a couple of Ukrainian friends who have bought an old ambulance and are driving back to your country. We are filling it up with supplies for babies and new mums. Everyone in our Scout Group and beyond is contributing, but its a drop in the ocean.

Stay safe and your fellow countrymen are so strong. You will beat this despot.

John

Valery, even from here what is going on in Ukraine is horrific, I can't begin to imagine what it feels like to be in amongst the invasion. Offering you best wishes seems rather feeble, but I offer them anyway. Communities like Solarchat, and may more, just go to show that poeple all around the world share the same humanity and can get along very well with each other .......... shame about our so called leaders.
I salute you all in the Ukraine!
Gordon

Valery, I have no words to adequately express the sorrow I feel for you, your family, and country in these
terrible, distressful times. You will always be in my thoughts.

My dears,

Thank you so much for your moral support, care and prayers.

Me and my family are still alive and unharmed. There is still electricity, heat and water. Few medicines. But there are very few products left, even if we consider that we consume less than half of what three days ago and the assortment is extremely scarce - potatoes or noodles, a minimum of thawed sausages and a cup of tea. Twice a day. It may be possible to stretch it out for another 3-4 days. Then there will probably be no food and we will starve.
The supply of the city was sufficient before the Russian troops approached the city and occupied it. They immediately, on the same day, looted grocery stores and pharmacies. The surplus was loaded and taken out for other detachments of Russian soldiers around the city. Russia does not supply its troops in the necessary and sufficient quantity.

So far, the biggest threat is starvation of the population. So far, no signs and rumours of humanitarian food aid from the Red Cross and UN missions.

Now is a dusk of the 8-th day of this war. No signs of the situation improovement.

Regards,

Valery

Hi Valery...

Like others here, you have been been in my thoughts since the insanity started. It is good to hear that you and your family are safe, and truly hope that aid arrives ASAP to prevent the lack of food and medicine from getting as bad as you fear.

Just watching the late news here with coverage of the carnage and refugees crossing into Poland. Such a sad and maddening situation for all of Ukraine to be subjected to this. I can't possibly relate to the crisis that you are all experiencing...just accept my best wishes for you to stay safe and get the food and aid required in the short term and a swift end to hostilities and withdrawal of the Russian forces.

I donated money to the British Red Cross Ukrainian appeal yesterday and would encourage others to do likewise to any national humanitarian aid organisation in support of Ukraine 🇺🇦. The BRC promise medical and food assistance to people in need over there.

Stay strong, Valery.

Stuart,
That's a really good thing to do. I am gonna have to check into doing that myself. Surely we have a similar program like that here in the United States.

I am certainly for Ukraine and it's people. Blessings to all.

Valery, my heart goes out to you. I hope these organisations get food to you fast, we feel helpless, the only thing we can do is donate to these aid organisations and hope they get the necessary items to you as fast as possible. You know that we are doing every thing that we can.
