Quick Sessoin - May 5th

Post by MapleRidge »

Hi everyone...

A busy work week, but I stole some time to image during a late lunch on Thursday, but technical issues rendered the session to be frustrating and forced an early end. Increasing cloud was one issue and the other was a constant driver issue with the computer.

So, the full disk image below as shot through thick cirrus cloud...it isn't what I'd like to post but will anyway  Shot through the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1800Ha and the ASI1600MM/1.6x barlow combination:

I also had plans to test out my Quantum filter that hasn't seen light in 8 months or so...really can't remember the last time I used it. Too many filters I suppose :P Due to computer problems I only managed to get one image of the AR3003/3004 group. I should have added the tilt adjuster to the camera as the newton rings are still showing in this image despite the flat. Taken with the Orion EON 130ED OTA (f7), plus a 4x Powermate and the Daystar 0.45A Quantum.

I remember the last item I was out with the filter I needed to set it a bit off the preset 'on-band' setting. but I did not get time to adjust it. That was my main objective with the filter, but tests to determine the correct setting to get the best tuning will be tried on Sunday if I can.

Hope everyone is keeping well!

Brian

Great to see these Brian, I love the detail in the close up. Remember you need to show us round the new observatory at some point :)

Hopefully see you tomorrow on Zoom
