Or is that only for those who want to appear on screen?

Thanks
Hi,

You need to join but you can disable your Camera as well as your microphone if you just want to watch. In your place then a black window will appear only with your name on it. You will be able to see the others and hear the others.

Thanks, but what if I don't want a black window either?
Is there no way to watch passively from afar?
Like watching a YT streaming video?

As far as I know, no ... You can watch it afterwards if the meeting is recorded ...

As a Zoom meeting is a private thing you can not watch if your not logged in ... IMHO

Go into Zoom webpage and look at the FAQ section, maybe there is some explanation.

You can opt once you are in the meeting to turn off your video and you can mute your microphone if all you want to do is observe.

Brian,
Seeing your observatories on Zoom was awesome. And you have wonderful rural surroundings for them! I bet Deep Sky is great from your site.

It was fantastic to see the observatories and hear the pros & cons of each sort. I loved learning about the coronagraph too. I thought you were all joking when you said about doing a video on the colour processing but as we went on began to think you were serious. If it will help anyone, then I’ll be happy to give it a go. I’d have to find out how to record the screen actions and do a voiceover on my Mac.
What a lovely team you are,
Nic

Alexandra,
I am really interested in a coronagraph like yours. If I had one I would certainly install a 540nm filter in place of the Ha filter and head for 6684ft Mt. Mitchell on a fall or winter day and try to catch the corona. You should use that thing more. It sounds fun!
