Congrats James Parton-DeepSolar64

Post by solarchat »

Congratulations James Parton of Hendersonville, NC for becoming our latest Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project/Sunlit Earth! sponsored imager!
James is a long time supporter and avid poster on our Solarchat forum-the largest solar astronomy forum on the internet.
James received an iMac, a 17" MacBook Pro, two 5MP PGR Grasshopper/Flea astronomy cameras, an external hard drive and all the needed accessories to continue his inspired imaging of solar chromospheric/photospheric phenomena.
It is solely thanks to our very small batch of dedicated donors to our twice annual fundraisers that we can spread this very high tech equipment to the people who need it to make a difference in their communities,. Thank you to the 149 donors to this Spring's fundraiser.

I am beyond words grateful. This will certainly bolster my drive to image. CBSAP/SolarChat is the best group of people I have ever had the pleasure of learning with on a forum, even without this icing on the cake. I appreciate and thank all of you. And thank you Stephen for making it happen!

Now my only limit is my altazimuth mount for my SMII90 and C102. I’ll get there though.

I did image today with the ASI178MM. I’ll post them tonight.

James. 🤗

P.S. Hey Stephen, have you got any of those cool CBSAP stickers!??

Fantastic, James ! I could not be happier that you received the equipment. It seems like a great set of computer and cameras and I am sure you will put it to good use. You certainly are very dedicated to solar and in particular to this forum: I always enjoy reading your detail reports on what is happening on our star.

Congrats James! Now the Q will your amazing visual reports still continue, or will you be sucked into the imaging black hole never to re-emerge again?

I will continue my visual reports and they almost certainly will be the dominant way I study the Sun. My own Images will support this work as already do images from professional sources. We have many more imagers here than we do detailed visual observers and I feel that I contribute best here as a visual observer.

The graciously donated computers 💻 🖥 will also benefit my visual observing program.

My goal is to fully document solar cycle 25 in it’s entirety with what ever means is available to me.

James

Here's my Solar workstation courtesy of Stephen Ramsden and CBSAP/SolarChat! Of course the MacBook Pro and my Windows 8 ( Not shown ) laptops will be my portable imaging computers and my Windows 7 and iMac desktops will be used to do research and editing " In house ".

Thanks a lot everyone. All of you have been a big help and inspiration in my pursuit of Solar Cycle 25. Onward we go. Together as a team.

James

P.S. A close friend of mine would say I am really " nerding out " here!! :geek:
