New Dome Installed

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

After three years of procrastinating, I mean planning ;) , the dome went up on the new observatory today.

The past nine months have involved taking down two older observatories and building a new larger one to replace the decommissioned ones. I had a good friend stop by for the afternoon to help with some of the final assembly and installing the dome. Thanks Gord :bow

I will be a week doing up the finishing touches with some paint and caulk, then install the mount and scopes. If I make good time on it I maybe able to image the sun from here on the weekend.

Below are a few of the pics I have of the dome installed adjacent to the large roll off. This makes observatory number five in my life...I hope it is the last, but no promises made to Sandy

I will post a more complete view of it when I have the fine bits finished and the mount/scopes installed.

Brian

Hi Brian,

Excellent. How big is the skirt of the dome. Looks a bit short to me, but I can be wrong.

Thanks for all of the comments and feedback on the new setup :bow

Rainer, the dome skirt needs to have an extension added before snow flies...the kit needs to be modified to fit onto non-stock walls that NexDome usually sells as a complete set.

Thanks Rusted :bow

We will see 'smart' it is when it get fully operational

My local conditions should start to improve in the day now that the landscape has green up in the past 2 months, and the crops in the fields now have covered the bare soil so the daytime heating should be reduced.
