SOL FL WL 2022.06.22

Post by nicosolcy »

For some reason today I did not capture decent data, so I thought I should play with IMPPG and try a different direction. Not my usual cup of tea, but why let the data go to waste?

In other news, the Gods of Orbital Adjustment Burns were not happy with my sacrifices. Orbital path has changed and it's a bit too far from me to head over and image the transit (work and all), as opposed to originally transiting right over the roof of my office building! Green is where I am, so yeah, it is what it is and I'll see what to do about the next transit then!

Since Alexandra was asking about the Lunt LS50, I did play a bit with it but I need a) a motorized focuser via say ZWO EAF to focus better and b) a tilt adjuster. If the scope does not sell, I'll probably score a 178MM (Player One version which has a tilt adjuster built in) and outfit it with the EAF so that I can do this properly. Not bad for a first run, I just sharpened a bit the image without doing any further processing. This was taken 4 days ago.

It could be an issue of merging two frames as these were taken with the ASI290 and possibly me being outside the sweet spot, but I need to play some more to place Sol in the sweet spot and see how it goes. Probably going to try with the ASI183 and place it where it's best and take it from there.

OK, despite being irked that it is a 40 minute drive to get to the ISS center transit point, I am taking off from work to attempt it. Home I don't mess it up!!!

Hi Franco,

Indeed they are, but for Ha, I have found in the past that a motorized focuser is a must. I will also get a new camera with a tilt adjuster. I think I will do Ha on the weekends when I have more tim.

Nice shots Nick! The Gods of orbital adjustment were definitely not in your favour - I know the feeling! Moving the Ha disk over in the camera frame should bring the whole disk into the sweetspot.
