Huge Filaprom and AR3038 | HA | June 22nd 2022

Post by MalVeauX »

Hi all,

I woke up to just overcast skies and had no ability to see this and was worried since it's my only day off to miss this big filaprom on the limb that I've been waiting on since much earlier in the month when it developed in the grouping with AR3032 and friends. It looks like parts of it are finally lifting off (captured a bit of it floating away) but it has kept a good anchor to the surface despite all the recent blasts. It's not a particularly tall and action packed prominence/filament (filaprom!) but it seems to be rich with material and thick. Quite the plasma wall, like mighty serpents on the surface. I didn't get a chance to see it today until around 7pm eastern time, it was quite late for my obs usually and seeing wasn't great, but managed some moderate resolution captures to be able to make a fairly large mosaic here of the entire region and included some other notable features near by for interest along with an Earth Scale.

Very nice Marty. That's an incredible filaprom. I hope it's still there in a few hours so I can see it.

Amazing! :bow

Marty

Have you considered using two 2" star diagonals to bend the long filter stack back on itself?
It might need a spacer between the diagonals to further separate the parallel beams.
Cross bracing would be useful to keep everything stiff.

I've seen imaging trains like that, If I did it I would want it to be threaded to be secure. I'll have to toss around the idea. Thanks!
