June 24 2022 Observations. WL only.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is from 17:30 until 17:45 UTC. The skies are almost overcast. The seeing is certainly better than average. The temperature is a much milder 76F ( 24.4C ) with a slight breeze.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
I can see five regions on the WL photosphere today. AR13038 is visible as a large easy spot group in the NW quadrant. I can see that three of the spots have penumbrae. The westernmost spot easily shows it's umbra and penumbra. I can count a dozen spots and pores in the group. Just SW of AR13038 I can see a single small spot amid faculae that is near the limb. That is AR13034. A patch of faculae is seen near the SW limb. I see no spots or pores there. I can see a large and small spot in the SE quadrant. The large spot has a double umbra surrounded by an easily seen penumbra. The smaller spot lies just NW of it. Faculae can be seen just to the east of the larger spot. This system is numbered AR13040. To the SE of AR13040 I see another patch of faculae.

The fine granulation is visible across the disc.

Happy Friday Everyone!! 🍻

James

Thanks for the report James. I was out this morning doing some visual with the DS50 just after 6am, the view was nice! Lots of subtle things going on. Cloudy and showers now but might have to take a peek with the sunoculars.

I am glad you got some visual early. It's overcast here so far and I am heading to see my daughter. I will take the SUNoculars with me.

I managed one spot today ( 6-25-22 ) using the SUNoculars. That of AR13040 in the SE quadrant that was easy to see. I never could see AR13038 near the ENE limb. This was around 17:45 UTC from Weaverville NC. The temperature was 78F.

The skies were mostly cloudy and gave me almost no time on the Sun today.

Carpe Noctem!

James
