i used a mx9916 night vision tube to look at sun in cak

shot with s8
yu can see spot with some lighter areas

lot better visually

Not silly at all. It's a viable way to do visual CaK.

Oh wow that's really interesting. (And given how much NV tubes cost, well done for being that brave with this experiment!). So did you just put the NV tube on the end of the CaK filter (with no other energy rejection in front of it)? And was this prime focus or afocally?

Primary focus
Used omega filter
But could use lunt also

Don't turn on until all in place or bye bye tube

This is an old gen2 s25 input
Do not use gen3

So price risk was much lower

I'm not going to use a 2k+ gene tube for this

keep in mind there is a cheaper way that works almost as well (a bit lower resolution)
that is to use a UV to visible light converter eyepiece

I never knew there was a such thing! Are they expensive? This would possibly be a good way to visual CaK!
