Re: something silly in cak
I've thought this is something that might work. Interesting result John.

Re: something silly in cak
Not silly at all. It's a viable way to do visual CaK.

Re: something silly in cak
Oh wow that's really interesting. (And given how much NV tubes cost, well done for being that brave with this experiment!). So did you just put the NV tube on the end of the CaK filter (with no other energy rejection in front of it)? And was this prime focus or afocally?

Re: something silly in cak
Primary focus
Used omega filter
But could use lunt also
Don't turn on until all in place or bye bye tube
This is an old gen2 s25 input
Do not use gen3
So price risk was much lower
I'm not going to use a 2k+ gene tube for this

Re: something silly in cak
keep in mind there is a cheaper way that works almost as well (a bit lower resolution)
that is to use a UV to visible light converter eyepiece

Re: something silly in cak
I never knew there was a such thing! Are they expensive? This would possibly be a good way to visual CaK!
