June 28 AR3040 and Granulation

Post by Jordan Konisky »

Image

I was going to crop this image to emphasize AR3040, but decided rather to express my metaphorical emotion when viewing the captured image - a lonely AR3040 floating in a sea of granules.

Jordan,
It is truly that. Animations show that very clearly that though a plasma the Sun’s photosphere behaves much like a boiling bubbling liquid. Never still and always in motion but a fluid that never truly boils away though it does, will and has lost some mass over the billions of years of it’s life due to the solar wind and CMEs. At the end of it’s life it will lose even more. We are very fortunate to reside with such a stable star!

Nice one, Jordan. Maybe just hold back a little on deconvolution/sharpening to avoid artefacts creeping in. Are you using ImPPG?

Stu,

Yes, I am using IMPPG and agree that my image is overcooked a bit. Thanks for your critique and "Nice one" comment.
