Twin G1 Geomagnetic Storms

Post by Carbon60 »

Described as a snow plough on Spaceweather.com a recent CME missed Earth, but 'snow ploughed' through the pervading solar wind, pushing ahead and to the side waves of plasma which did arrive at our planet, creating ripples in our magnetic field down to ground level. These were detected on my magnetometer here in the UK, as shown below. The waves arrived in two batches, each creating a mild G1 geomagnetic storm and each sparking beautiful aurora for anyone lucky enough to be in a place to see them. The event was reported here: https://www.spaceweather.com/archive.ph ... &year=2022.
