Sun in Whitelight 15th July 2022. Best seeing for months ...

Post by steveward53 »

Staggered at how good it was this morning , a dream start to any day ... I hope that other folk got to catch the same thing ... :D

It's so rare to see crisp detail across so many regions at the same time in a single frame , but I caught 94 just such frames from just 360 shot before it deteriorated back to it's usual wibbly-wobbly mess ... :o

The stack straight from AS!3 was better than most of my 'finished' images ....

Have used Astrobin large thumbnails here , if they are against the rules I can swap them out for mediums ... ?

Wonderful white light image Steve! Lovely details on the sunspots. The weather in Finland seems like the UK now, I miss the good days in spring and June :)

I was wondering what telescope and camera you used for this lovely image.
Did you image just after sunrise ?

Many thanks..

Hi Magnus ,

I have a very simple set-up comprising a Canon EOS 1000D , Tal 100RS with a customised 1.8x Barlow (to fill the chip to the edge) , Baader ND3.8 Imaging film up front and an Oiii filter at the back ( I use the Oiii as it's very similar to a Baader Continuum for improving contrast and I already had one in the arsenal so saving me £100 or so on yet another filter)
