A nice scope from a bygone era. It's 3 years older than I am and probably in better condition. Is that the original mount?

.965" or 1.24" focuser?

James

P.S. Watching the video I see it is the original tripod. And like the Unitrons it has a nice wooden case!

Thanks James

It's all original and the eyepieces are original as well (23.5mm - an odd diameter).

Check out a few more images (old school solar observation and astrophotography)

The scope came with a counter weight that can be used together with a photographic camera (I used my first DSLR a Pentax Spotomatic 1000)

Hope you like it

All those years and the scope looks almost new except for a ding on the bottom of the tube. How long have you has it? Is the tube metal?

Thanks again James

I got it last week (all metal and very heavy 43Kg with the wooden case). It is a gem and like new. These scopes are very rare (mine is number 310) and were rather expensive in the 60's (the price of a Wolskwagen beetle). Made in Germany by Johannes Heidenhain

Hi,

Just saw this interesting post and Pedro mentions a strange size of 23.5mm of the eyepiece.

This is not a strange size as 23.5mm is 1 saxonian inch  used commonly in the gauge of textiles machines. 26 needles on one saxoninan inch correspond nowadays to 28 needles in an englisch inch. Yes Textile machines gauge are still expressed in inches and not mm

Just to add a bit of history to this ...

Thanks Rainer

It is unusual for eyepieces: 0.965" and 1 1/4" most of the times

Clave' made eyepieces with 27mm and 50mm (and also 1 1/4" later)
