Disk and Western Limb Animation 7/22/2022

Post by rigel123 »

This wasn't the eruption that James reported for 7/22 since this was earlier in the day. Between 12:41 and 13:58 UTC this prom actively fed the surface and then just fell apart leaving a bit of a floating prom. The image for the animation was rotated 90 degrees CCW, that is the sunspot in AR3057 at the top. I believe the activity is in AR3056 which had rotated behind the limb. Lunt LS60T DS, ASI174MM, Meade 3X TeleXtender for animation.

Thanks Franco and Maurits! I thought about cropping and just have that active prom but thought it interesting to put it in perspective to the limb.

Nice prom Warren. You captured it feeding back onto the disk very well. This is certainly a different one than the one I observed. It’s still just as fascinating though.

Thanks James, that was an active region for sure! If clouds hadn’t come into play I might have caught that other action as well!
