My session time was from 15:29 until 16:36 UTC. The skies are partly cloudy with fair seeing. The temperature is 83F ( 28.3C )
Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x and 25x ( Ha )
Today I can see nine active regions in the Ha chromosphere. Five in the northern hemisphere with three carrying NOAA numbers and four in the southern hemisphere with three carrying NOAA numbers.
I can see a small but fairly bright plage almost on the NE limb. It's much easier to see visually than shown on the GONG Big Bear Ha image and more closely resembles the view that Kanzelhohe Ha gives. It's hopefully the edge of a nice emerging active region. Just to it's west lies a somewhat fainter small plage. The NW quadrant shows three active regions in a line. AR13064 shows itself as a easy double plage. To it's west across a filament lies the plage of AR13063 which shows an embedded filament. The plage of AR13060 nearing the NW limb shows a plage with a filament in it's eastern portion. Eight filaments lie well N-NE of this line of active regions. Five of these are in a rough line.
Just south of the equator in the SW quadrant I see the plage and spot of AR13059. Well SE of it lies the brighter plage of AR13065. Well to the east of AR13065 lies AR13062 with it's spot lying just east of the CLM in the SE quadrant. Among it's mere scattering of plage I can see two nice thin filaments trailing southwards. Scattered plage can be seen well to the west of this region with a closer look. More filaments are visible east and SE of this region. Another tiny plage is noticed NE of AR13062.
The most noteworthy prominence lies on the NW limb. It appears as a bright lop-sided loop. Heavier in it's southern part.
The mottles are visible across the disc.
Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
I can also see nine active regions on the WL photosphere today. Three in the northern hemisphere, all numbered and Six in the southern hemisphere with three having NOAA numbers.
AR13064 in the NW quadrant appears as a spot and a pore. The other two are small spot groups sharing faculae. AR13063 shows a single small spot while AR13060 shows three small spots to my small scope.
Due south of the AR13063-60 complex across the equator in the SW quadrant lies the spot of AR13059. It shows both umbra and penumbra and has faculae trailing to the SE. To the SE of AR13059 lies a grouping of small spots and pores. This is AR13065. I can see 6 spots/pores in the group. SDO resolves a few more. I see two tiny spots to the SE of AR13065 at 50x. This one is unnumbered. AR13062 just across the CLM in the SE quadrant shows a nice round spot with both umbra and penumbra. I can see some irregularities in the umbra's edge at 50x. Two pores are seen to the SW of the spot. SDO HMI continuum shows a few more tinier ones that I cannot see. Two small bipolar spots are seen well NW of AR13062. A patch of faculae is visible inward of the SE limb.
Granulation is visible today but not especially well.
It's Monday folks :-(

Re: July 25 2022 Observations.
Thanks Alexandra. It's threatening rain here and we have a low pressure trough over us. There is some sun peeking through a mostly cloudy sky. I do have the scopes out and at the ready. Heavy rain lies to the north and northwest in Virginia and Kentucky. We will probably develop thunderstorms shortly.
Good luck on sunny skies.
James

Re: July 25 2022 Observations.
Thanks James! An hour well spent in the warm sunshine!
It cleared up for me later on this evening, and I got some nice views of the setting sun with the sunoculars. AR13062 is really easy through them. I couldn't see the others but I haven't bought a tripod with me.
