Solar imaging with a 300 newton instead of 320

Post by allhoest »

The first solar imaging session at St Véran was done with a standard quality 320mm mirror (L/5.7).
Here is a comparison with a better quality 300mm Newton.
Many parameters come into play, including the seeing.
Here, the wavelets could be pushed a little more.

Great job. Seeing and collimation should be way more important then mirror quality in imaging though.

Thank you.
I have a certain control on the collimation (Laser collimation in my case).
I have unfortunately no control on the seeing. The seeing was bad this morning, and then it became cloudy :-(
