The Big Prom (Animation) 04-08-2022

Post by Martin_S »

I'm a bit late to the party, as I went out west to do some dark sky Astronomy. So when I got home I hastily set up my ED72 with my Combo Quark to catch this great prom.

I still haven't eliminated the Telecentric Barlow reflections when imaging proms, any suggestions for fixing this would be most appreciated.

I'm thinking of getting a TZ4, but I'm not sure if this Barlow is free from reflections.

Meanwhile enjoy the show.

Martin,
The plasma is shown in your animations are shown to be moving in opposite directions within the prominence. Excellent job in documenting this in superb animations!!

Absolutely fabulous, I'm glad you managed to catch it too :bow :hamster: :movie
I had a very similar looking reflection when using my 2.5x Televue and it was fixed by drawing the camera chip 4cm out of the barlow with a spacer.

Thank you Alexandra, I'm using this in front of the Combo Quark, https://www.testar.com.au/collections/b ... arlow-1-25

I tried extra spacing between the Barlow and Quark to no avail.

How does your TZ4 perform?

Wonderful animation Martin! I am a victim of Televue Barlow's reflections too. Will try next time Alexandra's suggestion.
