Sunny Sunday (morning) 7th August 2022

Post by Carbon60 »

A sunny morning this morning and an opportunity to image across the spectrum in Ha, Ca II K and at 430 nm to create full disk images and a few closer views of two sunspots in Ha.

The seeing conditions were okay at the start, but quickly deteriorated part way through the session making any close views in CaK impossible. My 'white light' mosaic image (captured at 430 nm) has a few dodgy sections as a result of variable seeing at the time this was taken.

My images below are not in chronological order.

FD Mosaics:

Active Region 13074 in the south east with proms, shown here in three flavours:

Finally AR13071:

Mid morning the seeing dropped off a cliff and that was that....

Thank you for looking.

Stu.

Stu,
Nice results here on all three lights despite the seeing. You are one of our greats here with CaK imaging.

You have re-enforced my views Stu. It looked very similar at the time I observed though you got a few more pores than I did on the SW triple active regions.

Many thanks, everyone. I really appreciate your kind comments.

Regrettably, although a week of fine weather has been forecast here, builders on my driveway are creating a lot of dust so I won't be setting up anywhere near them any time soon. That said, they start early and finish at around 3:00 -3:30 pm, so I do have a chance in the late afternoons, although by then the seeing conditions are generally pretty rubbish for hi-res work. The weekends are better as they don't generally work then, but it's a gamble on whether the weather will still be suitable.
