August 14 2022 CaK and Ha closeups
Hi all,
Today the seeing was very unstable, but at times worthy of pulling out the C11 tube, and there was enough time to try out with both in Ca and Ha.
I started processing tons of raw's from Ca.
Setups
CaK: Celestron 120f8 Ca mod., B-CCD, Lunt B1800, 5x, ZWO174mm for the disk, PlayerOne 432 for limb and proms.
Ha: Aries DERF, C11, UV/IR, Quark Chromo, PlayerOne 432
regards
Leo

Well done Leo, you get great results even if the seeing is just reasonable
One thing I meant to ask is what type of C11 do you have, is it the regular version or an Edge?

Re: August 14 2022 CaK and Ha closeups
Thanks for all your comments!
Just finished Ha as well, pity but mostly in the trash because of the seeing. I selected only 2 images scaled down to 70% for better look. A fast moving prom and a funny face in AR3076
As before I use Photomatix Pro 6.3 for processing, which gives the best result for both granulation and proms in Ca and, for example the limb details in Ha. Of course, with Quark I have a double limb effect but then equalize brightness of 2 parts disk/limb in Ps.
I have a bundle license for $119 together with Photoshop plugin, but I guess a basic standalone one will be Ok.
Alexandra, I have the regular C11, not EdgeHD, and I believe it's better without a corrector in the baffle tube, suppose also better for shorter wavelengths when focus can be moved to visual back or even inside the tube (and to take it out with appropriate barlow) to reduce spherochromatic aberration. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks Mark, it looks like a compliment for me
