back at it again

Post by EricF »

Hi all,

Here's a shot my son and I took around 11am this morning (Sunday). Lunt LS40, cheap 2x Barlow, ASI174. Gain=100, exposure= 3mS. Best 50 out of 450 images in Registax, then crop, flip, curves, colour, brightness/contrast in Affinity.

This one is the same image, no colour, and flip the curve over to get the prominences to show up. Couple of dust spots on the barlow, will have to clean that up some time.

Have fun everyone.

Thanks for the comments.

There's been lots of detail the past few days, and it's difficult to decide sometimes - just look, or take some pictures.

Nice shots Eric! For the dust spots you might check the glass over top of the sensor on the camera.

Hi Eric,
How lovely for you to image with your son. The results look awesome.
Thank you for suggesting Affinity Photo when I put out a request for help doing a mosaic on a Mac. I've just started the 10 day trial and within half an hour I had my first mosaic! I'll definitely get it as it works out so much cheaper than photoshop (most of which I don't really need just yet) and I found the help videos were pitched just right. It's been a long drawn out trudge searching and such a relief not to have to waste any more time looking!
Much appreciated,
Nic

Thanks everyone.

Warren - I'll take a look at the camera window under the microscope and see. From the size of the blobs I think it's the barlow - the blobs don't seem to be visible without the barlow. Easy to check that too.

Nic - I'm glad Affinity is working out.

Eric.
