Belated h-alpha images, July 19th, 2022

Post by LTHB »

On the last day before my holidays I had an afternoon of fine weather with long stretches of splendid seeing. The videos have been sitting on my hard drive since then, and as the weather has not allowed for imaging in the last days, I started to process the videos from July 19th. The first two, AR13057 and AR13058/AR13060:

I used Astra Image for sharpening (following Peters advice), and although I am just beginning to explore its features, I like this software, in particular the wavelet sharpening. I have never been able to get acceptable results with Registax‘ wavelet options, but I think I am at least beginning to get a handle on wavelets with Astra Image now.

Best regards,

Frank

Excellent images :bow :hamster: AstraImage is great but can be slow compared to ImPPG, it is certainly better than Reistax though ;)

Very nice images Frank. I use Astra Image all the time but start with ImPPG first. I really like Astra, it gives a lot of flexibility.

According to my experience.
Registax 6 wavelets is far the best among all wavelets I have ever tried.
AviStack is the champion in stacking of best subframes when the movie was taken in poor seeing. But slower and more difficult in use.
AstraImage 3.0 is the most effective and the easiest to use in image sharpening.

Thanks everybody for the friendly words and comments (and sorry for the late reply - I've been very busy workwise)!

No weather for imaging around here today, so I processed some more from July 19th:
