8-14-22 Ha and Continuum added PST Daystar DS

Post by torsinadoc »

This is from my medium resolution set up. Most of my time is spent with visual and sketching but wanted to take some images for the fist time in a few months. Processed in AS3, ImPPG. I had average seeing and a light breeze.

Ha: 102/f11 achromat + lunt+ daystar+ (TZ3 and Basler 155)
Continuum:102/f11 achromat Continuum, Baader wedge, ZWO 290

Taken from the day prior (same scope). I was working with my PST+Daystar DS. The first two images are Daystar in SS mode with TZ3 (F33). I took some with the new TZ-4 but they were way oversampled. I should have used my Apollo Max. But it was a test with new equipment so i include it. All processed in ImPPG. I like the lunt daystar combo better BUT it is only useful on my smaller scopes. I hope to do some tests with my 60 etalon and the daystar, PST as another modular system for my larger scopes

Excelent pictures.

You have some excellent results Alan. Love the processing too. What scope did you use ?

Thanks everyone. I used a Canadian Telescope 102/F11 fraunhofer achromat. I really like the scope. It is my best all around scope for nighttime and daytime (Ha, WL, Cak) viewing and imaging.

Your images turned out much more even and sharper than mine did. I can see a few granules on mine. A white dot here and there but yours are across the screen. Your seeing was certainly better than what mine was!

I was using a 102mm also. F9.8.

My seeing declined for the Ha but was decent for the continuum. I’m a sucker for long refractors. Nice and simple and all around good scopes.

We have that in common. I love longer focal ratio refractors. I coveted a Unitron for years. I still would love one even in this age of ED apochromats.

Very very nice results!

H-a are something special for such a telescope size!
