I had a nice sunny Tuesday and again tried to catch an X-class flare (the space weather forecast was encouraging), but to no avail. Still, those C-classers that occurred in AR 3078 did cause quite a stir!
Shot with a 90 mm achro + LS50THa etalon, Blackfly S (IMX 273), processed with AS!3 and ImPPG.
(Note: videos can be looped/maximized via right-click.)
1) End of the morning M5.0 flare, then a C1.5 (20-second intervals, 2 h total):

2) C6.4, C5.8 flares (20-second intervals, 2:06 h total)

3) Whole session (7:40 h) on fast-forward; note how the sub-groups on the right draw steadily apart:

Some statistics: 1382 videos (1.38 TiB), 3 GiB/min data rate, 12:10 h to stack (AMD Ryzen 7 2700, 8C/16T).

Re: 7-hour Hα session (but still no X-class flare)
Agreed!!!
Due to the large number of M class flares I have been hoping for an X-class as well but so far none yet.

Gorgeous animation!
I do not look at the sky with the eyes of an astronomer, but of a person looking for the beauty of nature.
