We have had a wonderful week away on our first canal boating holiday. We have also never taken a holiday in Cheshire before (where we live) and it was surprisingly lovely, I recommend Cheshire for a holiday. It was very stressful the first couple of days trying to learn to drive a 50ft long, 18 tonne boat, avoiding other boats, threading it through the needle (through bridges and locks) and doing 3 point turns (180 degree spin). By the end of the holiday I managed it, also mastered reversing.
However, we had no internet, I have no idea how Mark manages. Most places we only got 3G, but at the Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker we managed to get 4G. It also made a difference by putting the phone on the roof. Even so, it was a struggle to get Solarchat images to all open on the tethered computer to the iPhone.
Anyway, here are some sunsets I captured of our beautiful sunlit world. Hopefully some starry skies to follow when I get round to it.

I certainly see the appeal of the basic and simple life on board a boat, however it is nice to get back to a proper toilet and long hot shower but I am already missing our little boat Roheryn.

Lovely! I missed this post.
I always have phone out of the boat for signal, it rarely works inside - Fereday cage and all that... Reception can be intermittment, with the 'middle of knowhere spots' often having the best coverage, you can forget it if you are in a cutting!

Very nice photos Alexandra.
Looks like you have quite a dark sky there ! Wow, you are very lucky in Cheshire !
Did you try a high dynamic range image of your landscapes/sunsets ? Or you can do luminosity masking and adjust levels and curves for the sky and background independently.

Thanks Magnus,
I have no idea about the sunset photography questions, I point my camera at the sunset and it takes the picture, that is about the extent of my knowledge

Beautiful pics, Alexandra. The sunset skies are really quite dramatic.
