For an idea, a Skywatcher Heliofind mount is disassembled to see if it can be modified for other purposes:
What is needed:
- Phillips screwdriver small
Phillips screwdriver normal
Allen key size 1.5
Cutter knife
Attention: Before you start: Parts will be destroyed during disassembly!
Disassembly of the Heliofind:
The four small cross screws must be loosened.
The other two cross screws in the recesses as well.
The cover must be removed. Unfortunately, this is not non-destructive.
You can see the remains of the adhesive pad. The four Phillips screws are loosened.
The two grub screws are loosened and the ring is unscrewed.
Then the axle can be pressed in carefully. Unfortunately, the cover on the other side cannot be loosened otherwise.
This is how the inner workings look like.
The board is a modified version of the AZ-GTI, without WIFI and with other connectors.
There is also this cover that can be pulled off. Unfortunately, this design did not help in opening the mount.
I am not sure, if reports like this are wanted. If you think it's okay I will post more of these things here, when I disassemble or destroy more sun related parts...
