2022 09 05 Long Filament - Thx a lot to Mark

Post by Arrakis97 »

Today with not optimal sky conditions due to cirrus clouds and aircraft trails (... :| ...) I implemented Mark's suggestions regarding:
1) do not use Autostakkert's "Sharpened" function:
2) alternatively use ImPPG.
I enclose the result with a shot of the large filament associated with NOAA 13092 composed of a mosaic of three images.

I only used the basic parameters of ImPPG without using the "Adaptive" function. These are the parameters used;
Lucy - Richard: Sigma = 1.5, Iteration = 50
Unsharp Masking: Sigma = 1.3, Amount = 4.0

I am quite happy with this result as it is a simple first test of a function I did not know about.

I leave it to you to comment on the result and propose any improvements. Thanks again to Mark for the great suggestion :hamster: :hamster:
Thank you

Great shot Carlo! Only suggestion might be to raise the shadows up just a bit to bring out a little more in the filament, but that could simply be the difference between our monitors.

I thanks Rigel123, Mark, Maurits and Montana for the suggestion.
Today i take new image for NOA 13092, 13093 with camera Player One Apollo M Max.
I try to use lower contrast as suggested; the result seems better.
Thx for suggestion :bow

Excellent results Carlo!

The second version where you've pulled back the contrast slightly is better to my eyes!

Best regards,
Arne

These images are absolutely stunning! :bow

I'd want a medal from NASA if I produced any one of these. :D

Can you remember your ImPPG settings for the latest set with the lower contrast?

Thx for your kind word :)
I use the same parameter for both seta; i work only with diagram in ImPPG for lower contrast.
