Morning test of the new AR150/F8 telescope
The solar Newton now has a new owner, so I'm testing a new toy in the form of an AR150/1200. I'm mainly interested in how my 6 kg assembly with harmonic gears will handle it. The morning sun only lasted for a while, but the 1.5m telescope handled the installation very well. I only managed one shot before the clouds came in, but I'm satisfied.

Re: Morning test of the new AR150/F8 telescope
I didn't even enjoy it very much and a friend who lives in the mountains has already coaxed it out of me and will make better use of its potential. I don't have good seeing here. 150mm will probably be my usable maximum.

Re: Morning test of the new AR150/F8 telescope
I will be building more soon. I just need the mirrors. I produced duralumin parts in duplicate, so it will be a very fast production.

Re: Morning test of the new AR150/F8 telescope
I will be building a newton of the same design because I duplicated the duralumin parts. It is more efficient to make two pieces at once. I just need to buy the mirrors and assemble it.

I know what you mean about the seeing. Most of the time where I live I cannot even max out my 102mm refractor.
Nice images.

It's frustrating when you have a quality telescope but can't use it to its full potential. However, it's still good fun.DeepSolar64 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 4:23 am I know what you mean about the seeing. Most of the time where I live I cannot even max out my 102mm refractor.

Re: Morning test of the new AR150/F8 telescope
Where this image has been taken? At "here"? If so, you don't have to complain about 150mm aperture limit. Even a 250-300mm aperture should be OK. It is important to investigate (patiently) when and where (at the local garden) a better seeing is the most frequent. Before I've investigated the ability of my backyard (good seeng wise) I too, was mistakenly sure than a 150mm refractor will be my limit. It was a deeeep mistake.
Even a C14 is not a limited. Of course, my C11 works at it's diffraction limit more often, but not much more often.
Reasoning about a local seeing limits, one need to know for sure, not guess! One can know for sure only after a long and careful research.
And NEVER GIVE UP!

Very nice images, pupak. If I may ask, what brand of telescope is that ?

It's a typical noname branded "Astro professional". The same Chinese optics as SW et al.

Good results!
Hope your friend who bought the solar Newton is on this group as well and will post more images done with that scope.
Best regards,
Arne
