The bright streaks make the Sun appear to be in motion moving to the northeast!!

Something else to make the night sky troublesome for astronomers. The US Government, and indeed all world government need to protect the access of the skies for us all. For professionals and amateurs alike. From light pollution on the ground and in space, such as this. And from global warming which is clouding our skies. The problem is that the government(s) cares too much for money and cater to those who have it.

Excerpt from that article:

Should we be concerned? Maybe. First let's see how bright Bluewalker 3 actually is. It is scheduled to launch from Cape Canaveral on Sept 10th between 9:10 p.m. to 9:20 p.m. EDT. A batch of 34 Starlink satellites will share the ride.

Doubt this is what you caught as it hasn’t launched until a little later tonight. About 10 more minutes to go.

Not that I’m for all these satellites going up but just watched the launch and have to admire the technology they use to reuse the first stage rocket.

I am still trying to figure out how a satellite would interfere with an image in this way. It did not obscure the Sun but left those colors. A reflection of sorts maybe?

I am perplexed. You've eliminated any kind of equipment anomaly, right?

Yes we should. This is how everything starts with ... are we concerned ? ... and then when it is too big we can not do anything about it anymore ...

There are hundreds of examples in the past where the apathy of people have done HAVOC ...

IMHO

Unconvinced this is anything other than a camera , or more likely given the split spectrum nature of the streaks a wedge/prismatic issue tbf , any "flash" from a satellite however large the array might be would only be reflected sunlight and as you happened to be pointing your optics directly at the source of that light it would be completely overwhelmed surely ... ?

How do you account for a flash bright enough to be seen in a dark garage not being noticed outside ?

Not to mention that the streaks at no point come in front of the sun's disc ... ?

So how do you account for the excited pixels , red , green and blue all being only on the limb and nowhere else on the image.

I'm certain the source is closer to home ...

Thanks Steven for yourr reply and helping me discover and convey my intentions here : )
Could the "flash" you described have been a simple reflection off a passing vehicle's window for instance , as you're in the garage I assume there's a road pretty close and you were obviously playing in bright sunshine ... ?

And could that brief flash have entered the front of the 'scope at an angle causing an off-axis reflection that was then split in the wedge somehow , in much the same way that reflections from nearby but out of frame lightsources can cause havoc to imaging in the night time ?

As I said before I'm sure the answer is certainly earth-based not 'up there' ... ;)

Do you still have the original video file?

It's not a satellite that caused this. Is this just on the one frame?

Is this a monochrome camera or a colour camera?

In the satellite description it says the reflection could be as bright as the planet Venus or full Moon, not very bright then. Therefore, this isn't brighter than the Sun, you cannot see either Venus or the Moon during daylight apart from when approaching dusk. So the Sun would far outshine the reflection. Also, like the full Moon a reflection off the Sun would need the object to be in the sky 180 degrees from the Sun or an angle away from the Sun, so it would be coming from behind you or the side not through the telescope front end (pointing at the Sun). If you were in a garage then it would have had to come from directly behind you or side which would a be a wall? I'm thinking like Steve, it has to be something terrestrial. Maybe a power surge.

If the file is corrupted too, then I would think the flash you saw was the malfunction causing the screen to flash. This is my thoughts any how :) interesting though.
