Sun FD in H-Alpha and CaK 15th of September 2022
Dear friends,
Another afternoon battling the clouds, but I did manage to squeeze in a few recordings in H-Alpha and CaK before the sun got to low and disappeared behind the neighbors house.
Click on images to view them in full size on AstroBin.
FD image in H-Alpha using a Coronado 60mm/BF15 w/Beloptik ITF, stopped down to 50mm, Baader 35nm H-Alpha and ASI 178mm mounted on a SkyWatcher SolarQuest.
FD image in CaK using a FLO StellaMira 80mm ED f/10, stopped down to 60mm, Lunt CaK 1200 module and ASI 183mm camera mounted on a SkyWatcher SolarQuest.
Best regards,
Arne

Hi,
Very nice imaging again Arne!
May I ask you how long does it take you from initial setup and planning to posting your image to solarchat ? (after dismantling your solar setup)
Thanks
Magnus

Re: Sun FD in H-Alpha and CaK 15th of September 2022
Many thanks Alun, Alexandra, Magnus, Christian and Mark!
Magnus:
The acquisition process takes 30-40 minutes (5 minutes to setup the portable equipment, 20-30 minutes to capture 3-5 sequences for each wavelength and 5 minutes to tear down and carry everything back inside).
I then transfer the recordings to my desk computer which takes around 5 minutes. Stacking and sharpening all the recordings using batch functionality in AutoStakkert!3 and ImPPG respectively takes another 30 minutes. Then there is another 15 minutes spent selecting the best recording for each wavelength, contrast stretching using actions in Adobe PS, rotating the AZ recordings to have North up, colorizing and converting to JPG. Finally, uploading the images to AstroBin and post to SolarChat referencing the images takes another 15 minutes.
Best regards,
Arne
