Autoguiding on the sun

Post by DavidP »

I am using Firecapture ,ZWO and Player One cameras and a Losmandy with Gemini 1. Tracking is pretty good with careful polar alignment, but I would like to be able to auto guide for longish animations. Is it true that Firecap cannot order guide on the sun? Other than the Hinode guider, what are some options?

You could try LuSol guide

H alpha : ,Skywatcher 120mm F8 open frame refractor, a tilted 2" 7nm H-alpha filter as a sub energy rejection filter, Baader TZ4 telecentric focal extender, Player One energy rejection filter, Combo Quark Chromosphere, Naked PST etalon for double stacking, ASI74mm camera

Is Lusol Huide still available or supported?

Not sure, I use a Hynode guider.

It's not, but it works.

I do not look at the sky with the eyes of an astronomer, but of a person looking for the beauty of nature.

But it is true that Firecapture cannot effectively guide on the solar limb or active region close ups?

The guidance principle is probably much more primitive in Firecapture than in Lusol.
