Sun September 29, 2022 - CaH

Post by ffellah »

Hello all: tomorrow and the weekend weather will be lousy, so this morning I had a very brief session before work to cheer me up.

I also caught a bird... :D

Hi Starhugger, thank you for your comments ! I shoot .ser files rather than .avi. In the .ser viewer program ( I believe that is the name) using “tools” you can scan the video frame by frame and can save each individual frame. Then you process that frame: I did that in Astra Image. Once you know how to do this, it is pretty easy. I could not do an animation as I only had two frames showing the bird.

Franco,
I think I actually like the images from your CaH Quark better than many I see from the Lunt CaK modules. Nicely done. The color you use makes the image so much more pleasing to the eye than the monochrome version is. And you keep your coloration so consistent from image to image. Keep them coming!!

James: you are very kind to say… I will tell you a big secret: blue is my favorite color ! I also believe that there is a direct relation between the blue color of the Quark CaH case and the color of the sun image you see through the filter. I see the sun as medium blue, sometimes trending to a lighter shade of blue. Hope to see more of your images soon.

I tend to like blue for CaH and CaK as well and I do love the shade you use. And if you have noticed the Kanzelhohe Solar Observatory colors their CaK images blue!

It’s funny how the eye perceives color. CaH is below the wavelengths we typically see as blue. It seems that we should see it as a deep violet. How strange. 🤔
