Moon - October 8, 2022

Post by Sumpy »

Been getting outside at night more frequently the last few weeks. Seeing hasn't been good enough to do any planetary imaging, so I pointed the little Stellarvue toward the moon last night.

Nice imaging there, Sumpy.

I have some lunar imaging in the past, but now am leaning towards ultra close ups with details of small rocks or craters at the terminator. Especially craters like Plato, and Aristotle etc.

Thank you all so much for the kind words!

For this image I replicated my solar routine for the most part, albeit with a manually driven mount. 1,000 frames captured in SharpCap @ 80% on the histogram with the best 5% stacked using AS!3 and sharpened with ImPPG. It's been over a decade since I've imaged the moon with anything other than a DSLR at prime focus, so this was a nice surprise to see how sharp things came out in the end. The little ZWO ASI178MM continues to impress me.
