Decided to take the plunge and place order for a Sol'Ex but in the meantime I found an old casing I made for a spectroscope ages ago and put together a rough and ready (emphasis on the rough) SHG using a 75mm focal length enlarger lens as collimating lens and a 30mm binocular objective as camera lens,for the slit I have the
original slit plate which came supplied with the Alpy 600 despite the narrowest is 25um and the grating a 25x25mm 2400l/mm holographic. Attached the SHG to my Canon 300 f/4 prime lens (non IS) with an Astromechanics DSLR lens controller and Hoya prond 16 neutral density filter up front.
Testing today during breaks in the clouds I ran a few scans in the CaK and Ha wavelengths and below are a coupe of those scan results after reconstruction using SHG_MAIN Ver 3.6 slight processing in Astrosurface and PS CS2 as well as a few pics of the kit.
