Sunday Sunshine 16th October

Sunday dawned with deep blue transparent skies, so I was out early wanting to get as much sun as possible before it headed into the trees just after 11.30 am. First off the Ha, and using the DS50 setup. Full disk is with the 2x cemax and the zwo183mm camera:

I think i've sorted my saggy etalon problem (sounds like something you'd go to the doctor with!) so the disk is nice and even. Hopefully it will stay that way. Next up I used a bit more distance with the cemax barlow to give somewhere around 2.3x with the slightly larger pixels of the zwo290mm.

Next up the CaK; and the skywatcher ed80 stopped down to 60mm to give me f10 with the homebrew filter and the zwo183mm. CaK works best in these lovely deep blue skies so I was optimistic.

I decided to crank up the exposure to see what proms were there, lots it would seem!

I need to do an experiment and do a prom comparison with CaK and Ha, because I think I can get more in CaK than Ha, the background noise is higher in Ha which means the sky gets brighter quicker...

Anyways, I went to the 127/1200 stopped down to 80mm to give me f15 with the zwo290mm. Seeing wasn't as good as on saturday so I opted to record 4000 frame files to up the chances of better frames.

I did fire up the Quark on the 100/800, but by the time it came on band the sun was in the trees, so, time to pack up! Still had lots of fun, a weekend of imaging is always good. Hope you like these.

OK, these are amazing Mark, particularly the CaK! I almost commented on your last batch of CaK that it seemed you were getting more detail, particularly in the faint proms, than can be pulled out in Ha. I know for that NW prom bunch it was nearly impossible to get the finer portions of those proms in Ha. Nice job on those filaproms too!

My plan would be CaK, If there are showers I will just set up and have a tarpaulin I take on and off when it rains.
