A tiny cauldron and a very quiescent group of proms 10/23/2022

Post by rigel123 »

I noticed a bright spot on the NE limb so concentrated on that first. Not as dramatic as the AR on the NW limb the other day but still fun to watch the surge proms pop up! Then I went to the SW limb where the one filament was now a filaprom and the two proms that have been around for several days were still there. I really cranked up the speed on this 1 hour in real time animation, otherwise you might think it was a still image! There is quite a bit of activity around AR3126 though if you look closely. If it had been on the limb there would have been a lot of little surge proms popping up!

Tiny area with Earth for comparison

Warren,
I caught this tiny active surge prom as not much more than a mere bright bump on the NE limb around 16:30 UT today. I'll post shortly. You have given me a MUCH better view of it. Thank you.

James

P.S. That tiny surge prom is still at least the diameter of Earth in size!

Thanks James! I’ll be interested to see what that area looks like this morning.

It looks like a tiny boiling patch, but James made me stop and think, the size of the Earth, WOW! not so small then!

Thanks for all the kind comments! Indeed Alexandra, I wasn’t sure how large that tiny spot was until I incorporated the Earth’s image into the still!
