Full disc under less than ideal conditions

Post by Bill_C »

I had a small window of little to no cloud with bad seeing I captured a full disc which I ran through AS2 and did not do any further processing. From those of you who are far more knowledgeable . Please critic what is off with this capture. Taken with a Lunt 60mm and Player One mini
Thanks in advance Bill

That's a not a bad disc at all Bill especially in less than ideal conditions. I am presuming this is a single stack and this is why the contrast is low? A single stack will often look washed out compared to a double stack which has more contrast. However, the top half of the Sun is off band, so you will find it much easier to image if you either tweek the tuning to get the top on band, or move the Sun lower on the camera chip if you have some more room? I find that with my PST even if it is on band I have to get the Sun on the bottom left of my image to get an even illuminated disc, I then chop the image square again so that the Sun is in the centre later in post processing. Each etalon is different so it takes a bit of experimentation, you might have to try both.
