AR13140 & AR13141 in Ha 12th November 2022

Post by Carbon60 »

The Sun was elusive all morning, hiding behind a veil of high haze/thin clouds and only showed itself properly early afternoon for a short while, revealing itself only very, very slowly. It made me wait!

Eventually, when the sky was more or less clear, I was able to capture three reasonable shots across the active regions to stitch together into a mosaic. The seeing conditions were below par, which is no surprise, given where the Sun is at this time of year in the afternoon from my location.

Anyhow, here's the resulting image in Mono and colour taken on my 150 mm double stacked refractor at f34 (using a 2.5x PM). The camera was my usual choice for these types of images, that being my Basler acA1920-155um. I used Genika Astro for image capture, AS!3 for stacking and ImPPG to deconvolute and sharpen, finessing in a final step using PixInsight.

Tomorrow promises to be a better day.....we'll see.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice.

I do not look at the sky with the eyes of an astronomer, but of a person looking for the beauty of nature.

These still look good Stuart. I bet the Sun was low in the sky.

Stu,
The sun's lower elevation in the sky makes it harder for me and I am well south of you. I especially feel for all of those north of the 45th parallel!
