animation November 16 , problems with firecapture
Good morning all ,
I hate Firecapture, with my 3 2xASI174MM cameras and 1 player one Max 432, I have horizontal lines that appear after a few minutes with version 2.7.10 and spoil all my animations, I have to throw away trash almost all my photos.
I specify that I have 3 different laptop and tower computers.
I'm starting to get feedback from other people who have the same problem, please let me know your feedback too
Paul

Re: animation November 16 , I hate Firecapture
I solve this problem quite successfully by changing the size of the RAM buffer. It requires a bit of experimentation for different PCs.

Re: animation November 16 , I hate Firecapture
thank you very much for your answer,
the two computers I have have , a memory of 8&16GB
I reserve 3.9GB for the 8GB and 6GB for the 16GB.
Should the buffer be increased or decreased?

I use a maximum of 2 GB of RAM. Sometimes only 1GB. I had the same problems as you with the larger buffer. He wants to try it out and find the optimal RAM size. I have 8GB RAM on my NUC. It is important to have USB 3.2 in your PC.

Re: animation November 16 , I LOVE Firecapture
I love firecapture.
It’s a free program and one of only a couple that work on a Mac. I don’t get the lines you speak of since changing out my usb cable and I’m very appreciative that someone maintains this software for us to use. It does work much, much better with a solid state drive and at least 16gb ram on the Mac.

This is just stupid wording on my part.
I have been using Firecapture with joy for a long time, but I admit that the latest version, if it brings a higher i/s speed, has only been a source of problems for me, purchase of 2 cameras with 1 asi174 and 1 player one Max in addition to my starting asi 174 believing that the problems came from there.
Not to mention the various cables, ssd, memory and PC which have a significant cost.
I admire Torsten's work and the fact of putting this software in firmware, and would possibly agree to do as with sharpcap a small annual remuneration, but it is normal to report errors for help.
No malice on my part towards Torsten and I apologize if this message hurt him.
Paul
Not sure why you see these interreferences. You can check in the
general settings if unticking 'Multicore support' makes any
difference. If you can't get rid of it I'd suggest doing gamma
adjustment in post-precessing e.g. in PIPP.
Regards, Torsten

Re: animation November 16 , problems with firecapture
I was just trying to lighten the post a little.
it is very frustrating trying to get all of the various pieces of gear working together. Try using Macs only…lol.
The pictures you posted are some of the best I’ve ever seen and I’ve been doing this for a while so there’s also that side of the equation. If I had half that quality, I’d be jumping for joy every morning…

Re: animation November 16 , problems with firecapture
Hi,Good morning all ,
I hate Firecapture, ...
If you hate FireCapture why not try SharpCap and if you like it pay a License fee of GBP 12 per year ...
If you use SharpCap 10 times a year that is a fee of GBP 1.2 per session ... If you use 20 times just 60 pence a session ... A Pint in London costs more then 3 times a Sun session ... GBP 3.95 according to th4e article below ... and a Sun session is more fun time then a Pint ...

BTW, I hate FireCapture too, never understood that clustered and all over hidden features in the Graphic User Interface...

I already use the paid version of sharpcap, but for the solar in animation I prefer Firecapture (when it works like in the first minutes) for the gamma and the direct autoguiding which allows to have the guidance with a spot on the surface which has a differential speed different from the solar speed, useful for very large focal lengths.
I've been doing tests for 3 hours now (flat + gamma + sequencer + reticle) 300i every 30s by setting the memory buffer to 1GB instead of 3.9GB usually and it doesn't seem to make any parasites, it's indoors so I don't sing not victory until you have won it

Roll back and use the older version of firecapture Paul. That is what I did, not because I was having problems with FC, I just preferred the older version.

Mark with the old version (2.6) in 16b + gamma 1 + flat + sequencer + autoguiding at 10ms I have a ridiculous flow of 26i/s and with version 2.7.10, I have 80i/s, it is important in solar especially on my site where I only take at best 2 to 5% of the images for the animations
this morning I started a sequence on the laptop 7.9 GB ram buffer on a total ram memory of 16 GB, if there are parasites as usual after an hour I will reduce the buffer.

Re: animation November 16 , problems with firecapture
thanks to mister Pupak & Stephane my problem seems solved for the few tests that I was able to carry out. it's really very nice on the part of all the amateurs to have helped me.
I'm sorry that I don't often reply to messages, but my English is pathetic even with google translate
