November 30 2022 Observations. Orion70 and Slooh Lunt60

Post by DeepSolar64 »

My session time for the white light Orion70 session occurred from between 17:00 until 17:30 ( intermittent ) UTC. The skies are mostly cloudy but the seeing is fair/average. The temperature is a nice 60F ( 15.5C ). My Slooh Ha session overlapped my visual WL session. I processed the captured images from the Slooh Lunt60 Teide live feed afterwards which I will attach here.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
The Sun is very calm and takes a close look to see most of the details on the disk. The only thing that immediately is visible is AR13152 in the NW quadrant. I see it as a small spot with a pore to it's SE. A tiny pore can be barely seen just to the north of the spot. SDO HMI shows a tiny pore to the WNW of the spot but I did not see it. I can see faculae near the NE and NW limb.

I can see some faculae near the SE limb. A large pore is seen in the SE quadrant. I see nothing in the SW quad. The fine granulation of the solar disc can be seen too.

James

Very nice pictures.

I do not look at the sky with the eyes of an astronomer, but of a person looking for the beauty of nature.

Thanks Pupak. Though the equipment is not mine it has that live feel view like one would have while using your own equipment. The main difference is they control the scopes tuning, pointing, exposure etc. But at least it tracks well unlike my stuff! Their nighttime scopes can do videos for stacking but unfortunately Slooh's solar feed is only single frame captures only. It's easy and captures what's there but is certainly no where near as good as what frame stacking can do. And you cannot use a barlow or PowerMate. But still it works and is a good way of acquiring data on the Sun.

And it's wonderful on cloudy or hurried days!

James
