BBOTC filters. Has anyone here used them?

Post by DeepSolar64 »

I was online earlier looking for sites to find more affordable astronomical filters and came upon the Beijing Bodian Optical Technology Company. Has anyone here ever used a filter by them? I know nothing about them or how reputable they are or the Alibaba site that they are ordered from. I also looked for CaH, CaK and TiO filters without success.

Just curious.

James

Never seen them before James, sorry. Do they easily screw into regular 1.25" hardware?

That's a good question Mark. They do appear to be unmounted though. Marty Wise said the 540nm filter I got from him was originally unmounted and he got the fixture, I don't know really what it's called, to mount it in and mounted it himself. It's an Edmund Optical filter. The mounting is 1.25".

They do appear to have their filters in some kind of mounting but I don't know what it's for. The filters probably would have to be removed from this and mounted into a 1.25" screw in housing to fit an eyepiece.
