ok until a breeze (or worse) picks-up and takes your scope and more with it (closer to the Sun even) ???

Might be cheap for it's intended-purpose, but even with the nice new car shown, could be an expensive paint-repair job...
So in short James, cheap is usually expensive in the short or longer term...

Proper Astronomical-tents have been around for some-time as:-

https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=as ... HoverTitle

shows many, albeit they can get very-hot or very-cold inside - depending on the times in use...

Cheers
Terry

Alexandra,
Christmas shopping?? Yes, for other people. Now if someone would only gift me a CaK wedge/module or binoviewer I would be happy!

Terry,
I didn't realize there were so many astronomical tents!, aka portable observatories. The carport one has tiedowns available for it to keep it to the ground.

Thanks for the search link I'll check these out! My biggest problem here at home is finding a level place to put it without trees hindering the field of view. I have to move the scopes from season to season to follow the Sun! When I move to dad's he has plenty of level areas to put an observatory that has a good view. Permanent or temporary.

James
