Sol'ex spectrograph

Post by rsfoto »

Hi,

Has anybody in this forum printed the parts for the Sol'Ex or Star'Ex ?

If yes, did you have any trouble with the overhangs of the tubes like the collimateur and the objectif ? Normally when I design such parts I design those parts with an angle and so the first layers of the overhang build up slowly ...

Did the threads work out good ? I intend to print at 0.25mm layer height.

Thanks Rainer

No problem printing these.
I would suggest printing at 0.2 and 0.1 (or maybe 0.15) for the threaded parts (m42x.75 connections)

Only thing that you probably have use some sandpaper if the fit is to tight (there is some tolerance ....)

But not all printers are the same, and also not all PETG filament is the same.

Hi Paul,

Thanks. At the moment printing the " Collimateur Tube " and the first overhang printed well :hamster:

Will do some test prints for the threaded parts.

So far never printed at 0.1mm. A test will also show.

I am using SUNLU PETG filament. Upper and lower body parts printed well.

Think I used the dark black real filament (ad advised by CB) for the black parts and red esun for the colored parts.

(started with carbon enhanced petg, but did not know then you really nead a steel printhead for that, so my printheads were done after a few prints)

Hi,

I guess REAL is the brand but I do not get that one here and SUNLU has given me very good results and is very very hard. My last big project was a robotic arm and parts are real strong.

All designed by me and printed. The base is a disk brake from my car. It had four so I took one off. Three is enough

Hi Paul,

In the same way that all roads take to Rome asking does make sense ... ;)

Asking in a facebook 3D printer group they told me there is an adaptive layer height feature and so the thread ptins in 0.1mm layer height and the rest prints in 0.25mm layer height. Saves me 2 hours of printing.

New slicing (adaptive) is 3 hours and old slicing (all in 012mm) is about 5 hours
