Myself and my wife are thinking of flying to the US for this annual eclipse.
Thinking of basing ourselves around Albuquerque for a few days.
See more info here:

and cloud statistics here:

Anyone else planning to travel for it?
Regards,
Michael.

Hi Michael,
Thats a very interesting website, I had not come across that before!!
Reading the annular eclipse report - that is very long, I will go into that later.
I am not sure if it would be worthwhile to go to a annular eclipse as you have to view it always with eclipse filters and can never take them off during the eclipse!!
Have you found out the cost of a possible trip to Mexico/Albuqueque ?
What equipment will you take there ? Light and cheerful or full works - heavy tripods and big refractors ?

Oh, my wife and I planned to travel to the US for the annular eclipse of 2023. I know it will be visible in Mexico and many countries in South and Central America. Btw, we have a lot of trips planned for 2023. We want to visit Paris, Venice, and Frankfurt. However, I think the first destination will be Istanbul, as we found reasonable offers on
https://www.freetour.com/istanbul. I guess it's obvious we love to travel and learn about new cultures. I am curious about what will surprise us the most in Turkey.

Magnus,
It will need to be a light setup for airline carry-on purposes.
Myself and my wife enjoy travelling to see solar eclipses, so the annular will be something different for us.
Good excuse to travel to the US as well.
Nice part of the country for fab scenery.
For totals, I normally carry a Manfrotto tripod, Canon DSLR camera and a 100-400mm lens.
Might try a simpler setup this time - need to think about it.
Michael.

I’m going to drive down from Arkansas. I’ll probably take a tent so I can quickly adjust my location based on predicted weather but who wouldn’t want to go to Roswell for a solar eclipse
That’s a great site you linked.
