Some weather maps

Post by thesmiths »

Clearly, Mexico is the ideal location: the eclipse will be the longest; the sun will be close to the zenith; there are areas of higher elevation; the chance of clouds is much smaller.

I am personally looking into locations in Texas, just to the northwest of San Antonio (I discovered there are direct flights on BA from London to Austin). I already a called a hotel near there and enquired about April 2024. She lady at the reception said "You mean during the eclipse? I can put you on the waiting list."

I found a set of luxury cabins in the woods, directly under the eclipse path: https://www.lostmaplescabins.com/ which has availability. So I don't think too late -- yet. However, this particular place makes a proud point of having no internet, no wi-fi and no mobile phone coverage. "Life at the cabin is unhindered by cell phones and computers, although WiFi is available a few miles down the road at the Lost Maples Country Store or at many of the local businesses." Not sure I could survive that.

Hi,

Where did you find these weather maps, that is exactly what I was looking at.
I am not so advanced on my eclipse research so far.

Looks like we are probably too late to book hotels.
Can we just sleep in the car or pitch a tent somewhere ?

Magnus
